Our artists: interview to Sinaida
Sinaida is choreographer, performer and managing director of Lumen Invoco, her encounter with the art of polka dots has changed her life. Today she is also a teacher and trains new artists and artists who want to be part of the group.
How did start performing with Lumen Invoco?
My experience starts at 16 years in high school. The teacher of physical education one day showed me the poi inviting me to try them. It was love at first sight. A few weeks later, Fabrizio Fedi, founder of Lumen Invoco, came to school to allow us to deepen the discipline.
He showed me a video where a group of boys was dancing with the poi on fire. Those trails of light and the joy of those strangers passed through the screen of a computer right up to me, in a moment they gave me the certainty that nothing would make me happier than being part of that group.
What is the goal you would like to achieve with Lumen Invoco?
My experience in Lumen Invoco changed my life and over the years allowed me, through performances and constant training, to realize myself from an artistic and professional point of view. Making one’s passion a profession is the greatest privilege that one can have.
The desire I have is to succeed with my art and the passion that I put into each performance to make many people happy as I am during the shows. My goal is to share the art of poi, and the wonderful opportunity to perform with Lumen Invoco, with all those who dream of expressing themselves and performing as artists.
How do you feel when you're in front of the audience?
I have been performing for many years, but the emotion I feel today is still the same as the one I experienced during my first performance. The same legs that tremble, the same heart that beats and the same desire to share with everyone my incredible feeling of joy.
While the fire is spinning around me, I can grasp the smiles and the amazement of the audience. Sometimes I also see spectators moving and when it happens a tear drops. During the applause, on the other hand, I feel a sense of immense gratitude and I feel that I find exactly where I want to be.
